Despite getting 18 points and 11 rebounds from Gabriela Marginean the women's basketball team dropped their third straight game of the season, falling 49-40 to the St. Joseph's Hawks Nov. 14 in a game marred by poor shooting and turnovers.
The Dragons shot just 27% during the contest and made only six field goals in the first half. At one point the team managed just one field goal during a 12 minute span.
Despite their offensive struggles Drexel forced 14 turnovers and trailed 26-17 at halftime.
However, their trouble on the offensive end continued in the second half, as the team went seven minutes without a field goal before a jump shot by Delise Johnson found the net as Drexel trailed 30-19.
The Dragons cut the lead to just eight on a pair of scores by Marginean and Narissa Suber but Jenna Loschiavo drained three consecutive three-pointers extending the St. Joe's lead to a game high 15.
Loschiavo finished with 16 points in the contest.
Drexel once again cut the Hawks lead to seven with just 3:20 to play, however that was as close as the Dragons could get.
Suber scored 6 points and grabbed 3 rebounds for Drexel, which was just 15-54 from the field during the game.
The Dragons return to action this Saturday, facing their second Philadelphia team in as many games, when La Salle visits the Daskalakis Athletic Center. Tip off will be at 1 p.m.
