This larger effort included educating students about Blue Line, a new resource for students offering information about both Drexel and Philadelphia.
"It is such a useful tool and not a lot of people know about it," Alex Crane, a peer mentor in a workshop held in Kelly Hall Nov. 13, said.
Megha Basu, a pre-junior majoring in electrical engineering who was also a peer mentor at the workshops, said she thinks that after using Blue Line for registration, students will want to use it to get other kinds of information, too.
"I personally use it because it has so much information about Philadelphia as a city and Drexel as a University and it is constantly being updated - I think five times a day," she said.
Some students learned about Blue Line in UNIV 101 classes, and freshmen dorms are adorned with posters for the site, but many students are still unfamiliar with the web site and how it can help them.
"The Quick-Start Guide to course registration on Blue Line gives a clear and concise overview of the registration process along with template downloads, a video walkthrough and details on each preparatory step needed to successfully enroll in courses. The guide also provides important details on freshmen registration that are often overlooked. We were able to get the Quick-Start Guide with members of the Undergraduate Student Government Association and implement several excellent suggestions made by these student leaders as well as advisors. The Quick-Start Guide to Course Registration is only the first in a series of special tools that will be available on Blue Line," Torres said.
Some students said the site still needs some improvements.
"It tells you where you should be if you are an average student, but if you get college credit in high school and already have a semester completed, it's not really specific on what comes after that or what you need to take," Tyler Work, a freshman majoring in chemical engineering, said.
Mira O'Souza, a freshman majoring in international area studies, said that merging Blue Line and DrexelOne together would make the process simpler because students could see and register for classes simultaneously.
However, Keith Ayers, a freshman majoring in computer science, said he attended a registration workshop because he felt like he was doing it all wrong, and was impressed with Blue Line.
"There is a video guide on Blue Line. It doesn't get much simpler than that," he said.
