With their 3-0 victory over Delaware on Nov. 8, the Dragons captured their first CAA title in team history.
Drexel and Old Dominion both finished conference play with an 8-2-1 record.
The Dragon's eighth conference victory, a team record, caps a season in which the team recorded its most overall victories (11).
It was ironic, considering the team was picked to finish second-to-last in the preseason coaches poll.
Drexel got off to a fast start against the Blue Hens when Anthony Bafile scored on a blast from the right side of the goal giving the Dragons a 1-0 lead at the 1:11 mark.
Pat McCaffery followed with a goal coming off a corner kick in the 19th minute and Todd Wampler converted the final tally off a cross from Fabio Assumpcao with just 14 minutes left in the match sealing the win.
Goalie Corey Robertson made three saves en route to his eighth shutout of the season. He lowered his CAA-leading goals-against average to 0.43.
The Dragons outshot Delaware 22-10.
With the victory Drexel ensured itself a bye in the semifinals of the CAA Tournament, which takes place in Virginia Beach, VA. They will play the winner of an opening-round matchup on Friday, Nov. 16.
