Denise Dillion: "If there is a team that has what it takes, it's this team."

DD: A lot of luck, to be honest. She was a player that just kind of slipped through the cracks, and we lucked out getting her in here for a visit and getting her on board.
TT: What is your team going to miss the most with Kira Karlstrom's departure?
DD: I would say just her determination, and her work ethic allowed her to play each and every game and to have an impact. She was determined to make things happen. She worked extremely hard. She was an undersized player. Even at the guard position, she was undersized, but she always went after the ball. Obviously rebounding-wise, someone will need to step it up in that area.
TT: What does it mean to have Nicole Hester back in uniform?
DD: It's phenomenal. It's just great to have her, not just on the court, but having her back healthy as a part of the team at every practice and just around is a blessing.
TT: With her back on the team, does that inspire the rest of the players?
DD: I think they all feel like the team is back together, like a piece of the puzzle was missing last year with her not being around. There's a comfort knowing that they are all back together again.
TT: Which scenario do you think is more likely: Your team leading the league in scoring or leading the league in team defense?
DD: I'm going with team defense. Just the amount of time that we continue to work on it and talk about it, defensively, we need to show up at every game because you never know. Some days you're going to be cold shooting. We get a lot of good shots, but you never know if the ball is going to fall through the basket.
TT: Before the CAA season starts, what do you think your team needs to improve upon the most?
DD: So we have eleven out-of-conference games that will prepare us for the CAA, and I think the number one thing will be the transition defense. There are a lot of quick teams in our conference that like to push the ball down the floor. So we'll need to get them back on D, and rebounding would be another key. We're a disciplined team offensively, but we need to just keep the defense in mind.
