The Triangle recently sat down with men's basketball head coach Bruiser Flint to talk about the upcoming season.
The Triangle: Last year you led your team to a 23-9 record, including some key road victories at Villanova, Syracuse, and Creighton, however, your team was ultimately left sitting on the bubble. How will last year's experience impact you and your team this upcoming season?
Bruiser: Actually I always say each season is different. We've got some guys that didn't experience it last year. The only thing is we've got some guys that have been through the wars a little bit and they should be a little bit better in terms of their experience and what they're doing. But each season, each team is a little bit different. It really is, so we'll see how things go. We've got some young guys we've got to sort of filter in this year, so I know that is going to take some time. But other than that, I think every year is different. I think guys realize what you need to do and you always know guys who are returning are always pretty excited about that type of success, but if guys work hard, you've got a chance for that type of success. I think that's the mentality you bring when you have a season like that.
The Triangle: What does it feel like to be the hunted and not the hunter, especially among the city schools given your 3-1 mark against them last year?
Bruiser: I don't know about that. People think we lost a lot of players so, I don't know about us being the hunted. I don't think we'll take anybody by surprise, but I don't think we took anyone by surprise anyway. I think people realize we had a pretty good team and we had a chance to be good, but it's not going to change. We've been pretty good so everybody knows. I think a lot of teams know that those guys come ready to play. In that respect, we've just got to come ready to play and be prepared. We've got learn and if we do that we'll be ok.
How has the recent notoriety that the CAA has received helped your program?
