Gorillaz: Rise Of The Ogre
Riverhead Books, 2006
If you're anything like me, you're a big dork who will jump at the oppurtunity to read or pick up anything about something you like.
In the past couple weeks, only a few things have had this effect on me and one of them just so happened to be the book Gorillaz: Rise of the Ogre. Why'd I buy this? Why'd it interest me? Why would I drop down $20 of my hard earned cash?
All those questions are answered easily: The cover was really cool, the "interviews" inside are ridiculous, I barely did anything to earn those $20 and can easily go three or four days with just one meal each day. The Gorillaz have been around since 1998 and have released two world renowned albums. This book has all sorts of silly and ridiculous interviews of them discussing their success, riches, antics, and any other sorts of adventures.
On top of that, there are loads of pages of fresh artwork and clips of their Gorilla Bites (short animated flicks that were made to show the Gorillaz during their day to day life, look them up on Youtube).
What's even there for fun is some character history. The book has awesome backstories written about each of the members of the Gorillaz, including posters of their early gigs and pictures of the band members when they were young.
Really, it's just a whole bunch of awesome stuff from the amazingly creative, or unbelievably chaotic and twisted, minds of Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett. You'll find everything you want to, or don't want to know about the Gorillaz in this book. If you like their music, the art, the creativity, anything, just peer through it, please!

Call of Duty 4
Activision - 2007
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the third installment of the series featured on the Xbox 360. While past installments involved the now congested battles of World War 2, COD4, as the title suggests, will be taking the player into an edgier, contemporary theater of warfare. Gone are the archaic MP-40's and Garands; they have all been replaced with newer, more efficient tools of death, such as the Ak47 and the m4. Players will be happy to know that the single player campaign spans 10-12 hours and will leave you satisfied, a feeling absent in COD3's campaign. The online multiplayer has a cap of 16 players, features small environments so the combat is typically frenzied and over the top. COD4 is definitely a sure fire choice for any fps fan.
