The console wars are in full swing. There has been a lot of argument about the Wii and if this is a fad, or if it will triumph over all other consoles. If the Wii wins the top dog spot, who is going to be second? It has been almost one year since the release of Playstation 3 and Wii while the Xbox 360 has been released for two years. Let's see how they stack up against one another.
Playstation 3
This system is the outright powerhouse of the next-gen consoles. The PS3 comes with the cell microprocessor with nine cores that leads to complicated programming of games. The PS3 started off as the 20 GB and the 60 GB and now has become the 40 GB and the 80 GB.
Due to production costs, newer PS3s only use software emulation, which limits the percent of PS1 and PS2 games that can be played.
PS3 includes many of the newest technologies including Bluetooth, Blu-ray, HDMI, optical, flash card readers and USB. This powerhouse of a system lacks games that use the full potential of the system. Only a small percentage of PS3 games run at full 1080p. However, the system has the best graphics out of any system. In order to get the full 1080p, the best idea is to get a Blu-ray movie. The clarity of Blu-ray movies gives the feel of a movie theater.
A drawback in this system is that games that are awaiting release are getting pushed back due to production delays. As aforementioned, the reason is usually the programming of the game. Porting of games or even programming for the core processor is difficult due to the new language for the processor.
Currently, the 80 GB PS3 is sold at $500 with Motorstorm included. The new 40 GB PS3 will be sold for $400 and be released in America Nov. 2. The PS3 might see better days after some new games are released. Lots of interesting games are in the works for the PS3 including Metal Gear Solid 4, Devil May Cry 4 and Army of Two.
Xbox 360
This system was the one released one year earlier compared to the other consoles. Released originally as a core or premium system (20 GB), the newest release is the Xbox 360 Elite with HDMI and a 120 GB hard drive.

A LOT of subjective statements in this article: "Halo 3 is the best XBOX 360 game"??? Perhaps the highest-grossing yes, but the "best"? The monotonic sentence structures don't help, either. (Continued…)

"360 has a larger variety of games, and these have a great replay value."
WHAT? The 360 has more games but a WIDER VARIETY? 198 shooting games, 1 RPG and 1 platformer more like. (Continued…)

No offense, but this wasn't really a critical review of the systems. Instead, the author pretty much gave us the sell sheet for the three consoles. If this is supposed to be a review of the consoles performance, do more analysis. (Continued…)

Besides the poor writing, misleading opinions, and completely subjective content, some of the facts are wrong. The 40 gig ps3 doesn't even have software emulation, the cell processor is only 8 cores, and the ps3 only uses 7 of them. (Continued…)

are you in your right mind??? every developer knows thats not true, matter fact is impossible to get near 60 percent of what the system can do so all those specifications mean nothing when you cant put them to use. (Continued…)

There's this obscure little game coming out called Mario Galaxy. I know it's flying under the radar so its understandable that you missed it.

Next time you ought to do your research. Not everyone in the freaking' world bought an Xbox for Halo.
And not everyone buying a PS3 is getting one for the RPGs!
As far as game charts go, there is a huge variety of games for 360 out:

I think the article is very informative for people looking to buy a video game system. I obviously am not as knowledgable as some of the people commenting on this article but I think it's a good article for video game beginners who don't really care about the minor details you people are mentioning. xbox 360 wins hands down.
1) It has the largest selection of games
2) It came out first
3) It is much cheaper then the PS3
4) It has the option for an HD-DVD drive which has beat out blu-ray
