Men's soccer won its fifth game in a row, 1-0 over George Mason. Drexel continued its undefeated streak, making it 4-0 in conference play.

Drexel extended their impressive midseason winning streak to five games as it defeated George Mason, 1-0. It was the team's third shutout during this stretch.

With the win, Drexel improved to 7-2-2 for the season, including 4-0 in conference play. For the Dragons, the four conference wins are the most the school has had since joining the Colonial Athletic Association in 2002. The Patriots fell to 5-5-1 (2-2 CAA) with the defeat.

Drexel jumped out in front just ten minutes into the game as senior Mark Stevenson scored on a header after taking the corner kick from teammate Anthony Bafile. It was the first goal for Stevenson in 48 games as a Dragon, and they were the first two points of his career. The assist by Bafile was his third of the season, and he has now registered at least one point in four straight games.

The Dragons consistently kept George Mason goalkeeper Sean Kelley on his heels as they continued to press forward. In the 24th minute, Bafile knifed his way through the defense to retrieve the ball inside the box, but Kelley dove to prevent the score. Kelley made two more tough saves in the second half, one of them coming on a corner kick.

George Mason's best opportunity to tie the score came in the last minute of play when freshman forward Parker Walton, who had four of his team's seven shots, got one through the box but it ended up wide to the left. The Dragons then dribbled out the remaining seconds of the game.

Goalkeeper Cory Robertson stopped the only shot that George Mason was able to get on goal for his third shutout of the season. Robertson is 5-1 in his six starts this year, and his 0.46 goals-against-average continues to lead all CAA goalies.

The Dragons outshot George Mason for the game, 8-7. Drexel also had the advantage in corner kicks, 6-2.

As a result of the Dragons' five-game winning streak and undefeated record in CAA play, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has Drexel ranked No. 5 in the South Atlantic Region, moving up one spot from last week's poll. The Dragons are currently in first place in the CAA standings, and are one of only two teams to have not lost a game in conference play. Old Dominion is also 4-0 in CAA games.

The Dragons are back in action with two road games this weekend. Drexel will travel to Atlanta, Ga. to play Georgia State (4-6-1, 1-3 CAA) Oct. 19. The Dragons then have an Oct. 21 showdown in Wilmington, N.C. with the last place UNC Wilmington Seahawks (1-9-1, 0-4 CAA).
