Gravel excluded from debate

Democratic presidential candidate Mike Gravel will not participate in the Oct 30 Drexel debate because he did not meet the debate's criteria said an MSNBC spokesman Oct 20.
Gravel failed to meet the fundraising and polling requirements NBC News political director Chuck Todd told the Associated Press.
Jeremy Gaines, the MSNBC spokesman said, "He [Gravel] did not meet any of our criteria, which were discussed with and agreed to by the DNC."
Gravel has raised $130,598 and has $17,527 on hand as of Sept 2007 according to the Washington Post's Campaign Tracker web site.
By contrast Sen. Hillary Clinton has raised $26,082,347 in Sept 2007 according to The Post.
A voicemail left at Gravel's campaign office and the Democratic National Committee office was not returned at the time of this writing.
Philip Terranova, vice president of University Relations at Drexel could not be reached as well.
The other eight democratic candidates are still expected to attend the Drexel debate. They include Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Chris Dodd; former Sen. John Edwards; New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, and Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich according to AP.
