Students recently had the chance to assist the Campus Activities Board with selecting a comedian to perform at the upcoming annual comedy show.

A survey was posted on CAB's web site and a discussion topic was started on Facebook regarding the show, which is planned for Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. The survey listed a total of eight choices recommended by a middle agent to CAB, which fit within their budget of $30,000.

Approximately 90 students took part in the survey, which is no longer available on the web site.

"It was on the front page of our web site and we sent messages to our Facebook group, but we can only reach so many people," said Nicole Martino, president of CAB. The survey did result in a top choice, and the comedic act has been chosen and will be announced by Nov. 2.

CAB plans to conduct another survey for their annual Spring Jam Concert in May and is considering using surveys for other events. Approximately 100 events are hosted by CAB every year including Phillies games, trolleys to South Street and Friday Night Flick movies.

While CAB does not always conduct surveys, students do have the ability to send them feedback through their web site. Many students criticized CAB for not reaching out to more students for feedback about their events.

"I think they should have more student input," said Zach Howitt, a sophomore majoring in commerce and engineering.

Aubrey Weaver, a sophomore majoring in interior design, did not know that a survey was being conducted.

Some upperclassmen feel as if they are even less aware of CAB events than freshmen.

"The only thing I know them for is their movie nights," said Andrew Damiter, a senior majoring in communications.

"The fact that I don't know much about them means they don't get themselves out there," said Nicholas Quintiliani, a sophomore majoring in music industry.

Even though many students had complaints about CAB, many events that CAB sponsors are selling out, such as the Phillies game at the beginning of fall term and the upcoming broadway show, the Lion King. Several other events will also be hosted by the CAB and can be accessed through their web site.

For any students interested in getting involved with CAB, applications are available and should be submitted on their web site by Oct. 25.

CAB is made up of 26 board members that are all elected annually by the pre-existing board, and the position of assistant director is currently open.
