Two Drexel students were robbed and another threatened with a knife in a series of crimes occurring between Aug. 25 and Aug. 30.
The first incident occurred when students reported a black male, possibly armed with a knife, in the area of 35th and Lancaster Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. Aug. 25.
Drexel Public Safety responded along with Philadelphia Police as the suspect was attempting to rob two Drexel students, according to the incident report.
"The unknown individual came from behind them and pulled a knife out and said 'give me your money,'" a public safety officer wrote in his report.
Philadelphia Police arrested the suspect at 4:05 a.m. Drexel Public Safety listed the incident as an "Attempted Robbery" in its crime logs.
On Aug. 28, a Drexel student reported that he was walking on Baring near 34th Street when he passed two to three black males.
According to the report from Drexel Public Safety, the males allegedly grabbed the student as he walked away and took his backpack.
The student was talking on a cell phone while he was attacked.
The victim told officials that one suspect said, "Stop squirming so we can get your backpack."
The backpack contained textbooks, a cell phone and a wallet containing the student's DragonCard, according to the report.
The recent crimes extended outside West Philadelphia with a robbery at Drexel's Center City campus on Aug. 30 at 9 p.m.
Two students were moving furniture into the Stiles dorm when a black male offered to help with the move.
After allegedly carrying the victim's futon inside the building he grabbed her purse and said he would shoot her, according to a public safety report.
The reported loss from that crime was also significant: A driver's license, social security card, and approximately 300 dollars in cash were taken.
The Philadelphia Police Department's Central Detective Division is handling the investigation.
James Katsaounis, executive director of communication for the division of Student Life, said that it was not clear the suspect actually had a gun.
