Elegar stars at Pan American Games

Elegar will next play for the U.S. Virgin Islands team at the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada. That competition will run from August 22 through September 2, with the top two teams qualifying for the Olympic Games. The U.S. Virgin Islands team will face USA Basketball's Senior National Team August 23 in a preliminary round game. The USA top team features plenty of NBA stars including LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, and Amare Stoudemire.
According to DrexelDragons.com, Elegar said "We'll be playing against the pros in Las Vegas. Everyone will be playing at a real high level and it will be against the best players in the world. It should be fun and it should really benefit me once my senior season starts at Drexel."
Elegar, who will be a senior in the fall, led Drexel in scoring this past season, averaging 16.0 points per game with a field-goal percentage of .538. He also had averages of 6.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.
Elegar was also named Second Team All-CAA and was an All-Region selection by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NASB). In addition, Elegar was also named to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Tournament Team. He averaged 19.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in the tournament for the Dragons in two games.
Drexel finished the 2006-07 season with an impressive 23-9 record, including an overall 13-5 record in the Colonial Athletic Association.
