Students no longer have to wait until fall to reminisce about the great moments in Drexel's basketball history - and once again, they can thank the DAC Pack for raising Drexel basketball awareness.
The DAC Pack redesigned their Web site, TheDACPack.com, detailing the work of some of Drexel's most enthusiastic students, while giving students another reason to take pride in being a Dragon.
The site will give students an opportunity to learn more about the DAC Pack and get more involved with sporting events on campus.
"The new design should bring more attention to the DAC Pack," said Jesse Mauro, a sophomore majoring in Digital Media and the designer of the site. "It's eye grabbing and interactive enough to make people want to check out the entire site."
Some of the main features of the site include an interactive flash header with rollover link buttons, a home page with updates and links to sponsors' Web sites, an image gallery and calendar information. It also includes a page with Drexel highlight videos, an info section about the DAC Pack and a store that will eventually be able to receive online orders.
To help increase the quality of the Web site, Liz Yanak, a sophomore film major, put together a video highlighting the DAC Pack and the basketball team over the past two seasons. She also created the video introduction.
"The DAC Pack has grown leaps and bounds over the last year with the exciting season," Yanak said. "I'm sure students are already pumped for this year and want to check out what the DAC Pack already has in store for the season."
When creating the site, Mauro's main goals were to make a design that incorporated Drexel as well as have its own style to make it unique and interesting. Mauro spent three days designing and coding the site and finished the final project in two weeks.
Rob Falcone, the President of the DAC Pack, said that the organization could have hired a professional Web designer, but Mauro ended up being the right choice.
"Jesse did an outstanding job designing TheDACPack.com, from top to bottom, in a mere two weeks," Falcone said. "We accepted several bids from professional Web designers before bringing Jesse on board, so we knew what other options were out there; what we saw in the bids does not even compare to the product that Jesse delivered."
Students are accustomed to seeing the yellow DAC Pack shirts all over campus, but now there are two new additions to the DAC Pack clothing line offered on the site: A "Best Fans in Philly" T-shirt and a DAC Pack polo shirt will be available in the online store so that students can be diverse with their DAC Pack wear.
Ed Ostapowicz, Bill Torr and Sean Joyce also helped with the creation of the Web site.
