One of the most enthusiastic organizations on campus just found another way to better Drexel's morale; but this time, it is teaming up with an unlikely partner.
The DAC Pack, Drexel's dedicated fan base for all sports on campus, and the Undergraduate Student Government Association agreed to a partnership after signing a one-year contract in the USGA office July 2.
The USGA and DAC Pack are allocating an equal amount of money to go toward events that are co-sponsored with each other and the CAP fund. Financial terms of the contract are not available for public release.
The two organizations will work together to plan, market and staff athletic events throughout their tenure.
"A lot of the credit for the partnership goes to Dan Steinberg and Dr. David Ruth," Rob Falcone, the president of the DAC Pack said. "We worked on this with them throughout the past season."
The USGA voted unanimously for this approval, while Falcone said that everyone with whom he spoke inside the DAC Pack said it was a great partnership.
USGA President Jeff Gardosh hopes the increased visibility of the student government will encourage students to come to him for advice or suggestions.
"I want people to come to me with their problems," Gardosh said. "I don't want to be locked away in my office. I want to support one of the great organizations on this campus and improve Drexel's spirit."
The organizations are still two different entities, but they will endorse each other through posters, fliers, Web sites and Facebook.
They have been working on the official contract since June 14 and were able to sign it just under three weeks later. They initially came up with the idea May 31, at the farewell dinner for Anthony Caneris, the former Senior Vice President for Student Life and Administrative Services.
The USGA hopes to raise student awareness, while the DAC Pack continues to promote Drexel spirit.
"We thought this would be a great opportunity for the DAC Pack and it's a great way to build school spirit through Drexel athletics," Falcone said. "For USGA, it provides a great venue for them to get the word out about their events and agenda."

I love how Jeff Gardosh is quoted in the 7th and 8th paragraphs but is identified in the 13th.
