U. awarded grant to support trasitioning teachers

However, candidates cannot only have real-world experience to participate in the TTT program - they must also have an undergraduate degree related to the subject area they wish to teach, since "one of the goals of the program is to bring in highly qualified teachers," Reisman stated.

Schwartz and his team have turned to more niche recruiting methods to find people with in-depth experience in math and science fields. One outlet they use is Dice.com, a forum where programmers and engineers often post resumes when looking for career changes. Another development is EVA (short for "evaluation"), a virtual robot that interviews prospective candidates online as a screening process.

TTT is also partners with IBM, which has a charitable group dedicated to helping schools and students by transitioning IBM retirees or employees who desire a career change into teaching positions, according to Schwartz.

TTT is a nationwide program that extends to nearly every state, and grants are distributed each year to place teachers in various public school districts across the country.
