More than 4,000 students were awarded their degrees in four separate ceremonies at the University's 120th commencement ceremony June 16, which was held in the Daskalakis Athletic Center.

Commencement was officially declared 'in session' by Papadakis and University administrators congratulated graduating students on their success.

"I wish to extend congratulations to all of you graduating today," Provost Stephen W. Director said in his address. "You have worked very hard during your time with us and each of you should take great pride in your achievement. We certainly do."

Papadakis addressed the audience at each ceremony and recounted the achievements of the University in the past decade.

"We have built outstanding new facilities that have improved academics, athletics, and student life," Papadakis said. "We have grown in size and quality to take our place among the leading Universities of our nation. You have been at Drexel during a remarkable time of growth. You have thrived at one of the nation's best comprehensive research Universities."

Students and faculty were optimistic of the prospects of Drexel graduates.

"I really feel proud at the moment because the students have learnt a lot over these years," said Yury Gogotsi, materials engineering professor and director of AJ Drexel Nanotechnology Institute. "Most of the students have great future prospects."

"My experience at Drexel has been nothing short of fantastic," Stephanie Sullivan, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics, said. "I look back on my four years at Drexel fondly, knowing that I have had the opportunity to experience so much and be a part of a really great era in Drexel's history."

There were also some students who plan to come back to Drexel for further studies.

"I've got four years ahead of me as a medical student here but I am really happy" said Brett Rosen, who graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry.
