He's the CAA Defensive Player of the Year, a two-time CAA Scholar Athlete of the Year in men's lacrosse, a Jewish Sports Review All-American, a four-time recipient of the CAA Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award, and the winner of the Semanik Award for Outstanding Academics, Athletics and Service.
He was also named to the First Team All-CAA, The Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team, the Academic All-District II At-Large team, and the Lowe's All-Senior All-American Team.
Senior captain Adam Crystal of the men's lacrosse team has built quite an impressive resume. But now he can add something that has not occurred in almost three decades.
Crystal was selected as an All-American, the first Drexel lacrosse player to receive this prestigious honor in 29 years, when Dennis Fink was selected as an Honorable Mention All-American in 1978.
Crystal said he never expected to win an honor like this, especially heading into his first season.
"I never would've expected All-American," Crystal said. "Coming into Drexel, I was just worried about if I would ever play, let alone be able to accomplish what I've been able to. Being named All-American was probably the last thing on my mind coming to Drexel."
Drexel head coach Chris Bates was proud of Crystal to earn All-American status.
"I couldn't be more proud of Adam or our program," Bates said. "Adam came in with some gifts and we tried to get him to maximize those gifts, work hard and realize his potential. We said it's going to take an enormous amount of work and growing into a leadership role within our program to achieve this goal."
In addition to his All-American status, Crystal was also honored as an Academic-All-American.
Crystal talked about how he is trying to enjoy winning these awards while he's still in college.
"These awards are nice and it doesn't really get old just because it shows that people are recognizing the hard work you put in," Crystal said. "The awards are by no means why I do what I do, but it's nice to be recognized. In a few years when I'm in the real world, the awards are going to stop so it's nice to enjoy them while I still can."
