The Hofstra Pride softball team (33-13), continued to show why they have the best record in the CAA, as they completed a three-game sweep of Drexel (16-18), April 28 and 29.

They won both games of a double-header the first afternoon and completed the sweep in the final game of the series on Sunday.

Hofstra's Kayleigh Lotti was the big story, pitching in all three games and improving her record to 16-4 on the season.

In game one, Lotti pitched a complete game, allowing three hits and one run, giving up just a single home run to catcher Ashley Botelho and led the Pride to a 4-1 victory to start off the weekend series. She struck out 15 batters and walked one.

In game two, Lotti pitched 2 and 2/3 innings, giving up one run on just one hit, as the Pride exploded for 10 runs, winning 10-2.

Lotti pitched another complete game in game three, giving up just one unearned run on three hits, concluding the weekend with a 5-1 victory.

Again Lotti was strong with 12 strikeouts and allowed just two walks to Drexel hitters.

Dragons starting pitcher Katrina Gaudier was coming in with a personal record of 9-6, but ended the weekend with a 9-9 record, as she suffered losses in all three games.

Gaudier struggled early in game one, but in the end turned in a strong complete-game performance, giving up four runs; only two of them earned on six hits, but was out-dueled by Lotti.

Gaudier was taken out early in game two after 2 and 2/3 innings, after giving up two runs on four hits, and was relieved by Amanda Shattuck who surrendered eight runs on seven hits.

Hofstra came out with some early offense against Gaudier in game three, as Hofstra right fielder Ashley Lane smacked a three-run home run to cap off a four-run first inning. Drexel responded with an RBI from Botelho in the bottom of the first, but from that point on, Drexel's bats were once against silenced by Lotti through the course of the game.

Drexel's RBI leader on the season and one of the keys of Drexel's offense, Brianne Brown, went 0-3 with two strikeouts in game one, picked up a walk and a hit in game two.

Brown also broke Drexel's all time walk record with 68 in her career.

Drexel's leader in slugging percentage, Botelho, did have at least one hit in all three games.

Drexel sophomore first baseman, Sandi Wambold, homered in game two to account for one of Drexel's two runs in the game, but also struck out six times in the series.

Drexel concludes the season with games at George Mason May 5 and 6, followed by the CAA Championships.
