The Campus Activities Board has announced Jack's Mannequin as the headlining band for this year's highly anticipated Spring Jam event, which will take place Saturday, May 19 at the Armory.
Each year, CAB gets a few up and coming hopeful bands on stage on Drexel's campus with someone who has already made a name for themselves out in the pop world. Jack's Mannequin, this year's headliner, is the solo project of Andrew McMahon of Something Corporate.
The band got its start with the song "Locked Doors" which McMahon felt was too different from other stuff that he's done with Something Corporate. When Josh Partington, guitarist of Something Corporate, started his own side project, McMahon began writing some of his own songs and started putting together what would lead up to the creation of Jack's Mannequin. The band follows piano rock with some catchy tunes throughout. A good example of their style is their song 'Dark Blue' which expresses their simple tunes from multiple instruments tied together to create something that sounds a little more complex and flows rather nicely.
To learn more about them, you can check out their website at www.jacksmannequin.com. Spring Jam will take place May 19 at the Armory (33rd Street, north of Market) at 3 pm. The event is free to students with a valid ID, $5 to grad students, faculty and staff members with ID and $5 for each non-Drexel guest with a one guest per undergraduate Drexel student. Tickets can be bought at the CAB office in MacAlister Hall on Monday through Friday from noon to 1 p.m. and Monday - Friday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Look out for the special guest!
