Most people who read the above headline probably thought one of two things; when did football return to Drexel, and why is this in A&E instead of sports? If you found yourself asking one of those questions, crawl out from under the rock you have been living under and listen up.

The Drexel Football Team is a group of students that perform various improvisation comedy shows throughout the year, and unlike the team that the board of trustees disbanded in 1973, this team is here to stay.

In the 150 seat Ruth auditorium in Nesbitt, on April 26, people had to stand in the back and sit in aisles to join in on the newest comedic craze to come to Drexel. The only rule the team set for the evening, "No referencing female organs in a vulgar way," was broken in the first skit about "motor boating."

"Our last show had over 100 people come out," said host of the evening and creator of the team Luke Giordano. "Our first few shows took place in a screening room in the basement of University Crossings and had 20 or 30 people turnout, basically just our friends. But now it's really taking off."

If Thursday's show was any indication, the team can expect larger and larger crowds as it performs more. Taking cues from the audience to create various scenes such as "German Bathroom" and "Fairy Tale Talk Show," the team had the audience rolling in laughter. In fact, the only real criticism one could argue about is that the laughter sometimes drowned out the performers, making it difficult to hear.

A tip to the group: invest in a set of microphones, and you will turn an already hilarious performance into a top notch routine.

A final scene brought team member Rose Dillon's mother down from the audience to explain her day which the full crew then proceeded to recreate.

The next performance is scheduled for Thursday, May 31 at 10 p.m. at the Stein Auditorium in Nesbitt Hall. If we are lucky enough, another show could be added for May 17th.

If you are ever looking for a (free) alternative to "Thirsty Thursday" and you see that the Drexel Football Team is performing, I highly recommend checking them out. You will not be sorry.
