For one last time this season, the men's and women's basketball teams shared their memories in what was one of the most unforgettable seasons in Drexel basketball history.

Drexel held its annual basketball banquet April 18 in Behrakis Grand Hall to commend Drexel basketball on its accomplishments throughout the season.

Dan Baker, the play-by-play radio announcer for men's basketball and Master of Ceremonies for the event, used his smooth and enthusiastic voice to once again entertain the people in attendance.

Director of Athletics Eric Zillmer was the first speaker of the night and discussed how proud he was of both basketball teams and went through several of the highlights that captivated Drexel and basketball nation.

After James Tucker, the senior vice president for student life, gave a short speech, play-by-play commentator Scott Graham showed the premiere of "Dawn of the Dragon," a documentary about the men's basketball team that will air later this year.

The men's basketball team celebrated its success during the season by giving out multiple awards.

Chaz Crawford won the Dragon "D" Award for best defensive player and the "Sweep" Award for Top Rebounder. Tramayne Hawthorne won the Samuel D. Cozen Most Improved Player Award. Frank Elegar took home the most prestigious award of the night for the men's basketball team by being named the team's Most Valuable Player.

"It was a joy to coach these guys," said Bruiser Flint, the men's basketball coach. "It's been a great four years with this bunch. These guys are kids you can root for. It's one of the reasons why the DAC Pack knocked on every door in every room."

The women's team also received awards at the banquet.

Anora Suber was named Drexel's Defensive Player of the Year, while Gabriela Marginean won the MVP Award.

Marginean had one of the best rookie campaigns in Drexel basketball history. Marginean was the only rookie ranked in the conference's top 10 in scoring and rebounding. She also had 47 points and 22 rebounds in Drexel's five-overtime game against Northeastern Feb. 22.
