Drexel University has issued a statement in response to the New York Attorney General, Andrew Cuomo's intent to sue by calling the allegations "without foundation in law or in fact."
In a statement released Thursday evening, the University said it would "vigorously defend its position in this matter and will fully respond to any lawsuit in due course"
The statement further acknowledges that the University first learned of the intent to sue after The Triangle received a letter from the Attorney General's office and called the University's legal department for comment.
"Not withstanding, Drexel's full cooperation the filing of this notice of intent to sue, without prior notice or demand, demonstrates that the Attorney General has not dealt with our University in a forthright manner," said the statement
The letter sent to The Triangle was dated 7:56 p.m. April 19, 2007 and had not been received by the University's General Council at the time of release.
"The timing and public release of the Attorney General's notice of intent to sue raises troubling questions as to his motivations and to his tactics" said the statement from the University.
