Three members of the Drexel's men's tennis team were arrested after allegedly burglarizing several University Crossings apartments early Monday morning.

Carlo Pangilinan, a sophomore, Ben Trabin, a junior, and Jarrod Popvice, a freshman, were all arrested by the Philadelphia Police in Pangilinan's room at University Crossings after being identified on security camera footage.

The three have been charged with burglary, theft and trespassing according to the Philadelphia Police Department.

Allegedly, the three were intoxicated after losing a tennis match to Delaware on Sunday, April 9 and decided to play "what they considered a practical joke" by stealing items from apartments in University Crossings, according to the PPD.

The group can be seen on security camera footage trying to open different apartment doors and using a credit card to break into some of the apartments, according to the police.

Among the items stolen was a "purse, soccer equipment and a case of beer" a law enforcement source said.

Court records show that bail of $5,000 was posted on April 11 for Popovice and Trabin. However, records for Pangilinan were unable to be located.

All of the suspects were later released. A trial date has not been set.

Charges listed in the court records were "burglary, criminal conspiracy engaging burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property."

Sheila Fleishman, director of the office of judicial affairs said she could not "acknowledge the existence of a case" and declined to comment further citing federal privacy laws and University policy.

Fleishman did explain that the University has the authority to pursue its own judicial process against students who are arrested.

According to the Philadelphia Police, some of the apartments broken into were unlocked.

Police urged students to lock their doors and explained that no one was home in the apartments when the crimes took place.

Ben Gollotti, senior associate vice president for public safety at Drexel confirmed that a burglary occurred at University Crossings and that Public Safety is continuing the investigation in conjunction with the Philadelphia Police.
