With singsong melodies and aggressive guitar riffs, The Classic Crime unleash a fine effort in their new album, Albatross. Hailing from Seattle, the band is one of Tooth and Nail Records' most promising acts.
Although Albatross is a rock album from top to bottom, The Classic Crime is not afraid to express sentimental ideas with songs like "Who Needs Air" and "Say the Word." These songs in particular are the glue that completes and holds the album together. The bulk of the album is made up of fun, energetic songs like "The Coldest Heart" and "Blisters and Coffee," as well as the band's latest, second single from the album, "The Fight," which currently circulates the web in full force.
Although the band likes to keep it fun, they also aren't afraid to express their true emotions. Albatross is as powerful as it is bouncy at times, and has fresh melodies that do not get old. It is no surprise that this band is already seeing underground success, having sold an impressive 30,000 copies of the album to date. Additionally, The Classic Crime recently launched a YouTube channel, on which the band's latest music videos for "The Fight" and "The Coldest Heart" can be found along with behind-the-scenes footage of the band. After touring along side A Static Lullaby and A Change of Pace, the band is ready to take their music on the road with punk-rock veterans, MXPX. The Classic Crime is also making its way to Philadelphia May 23 at the Trocadero.
