Earlier this season, forward Chaz Crawford had seven blocks against St. Joe's to help the Dragons knock off the Hawks 72-56. After the game, Crawford said one of the most memorable quotes of the season.
"I made them scared to come into the lane," Crawford said. "This is my lane. You can't keep coming in here."
All season long, opposing players have had a difficult time challenging Crawford in his lane.
Crawford's physical style and amazing ability to attack the ball from a defensive stance earned him the Colonial Athletic Association's Defensive Player of the Year.
Crawford leads the CAA in both rebounding and blocks. The 6-foot-10 Crawford is ninth in the nation with 3.3 blocks per game and 15th in the country with 9.7 rebounds per game. He is second in Drexel history with 316 blocks and is sixth in rebounding with 801.
Drexel guard Bashir Mason was also honored, as he became the first player in CAA history to be named to the All-Defensive Team four straight years.
Scott Rodgers was commended for his academic achievements, as he was named to the CAA's All-Academic Second Team.
