"Some lady in a van tried driving into oncoming traffic to pass us, since the road was only one lane in each direction," Tinney stated. "She took off our driver's side mirror, scratched our car, and then drove herself into a pole, totaling her own van."
Brennan added that after the accident, their right turn signal stopped working.
"Ben and I had to hand signal our right turns throughout New York City, which was not only a pain in the ass, but dangerous with the tight traffic," she said.
Five hours and one car accident later, they pulled into the driveway of the church. "I thought we were the ones who were late," Tinney said. "We went to the receptionist and found out that Nicole's bus was the one running a few hours late."
They decided to wait there for a few more hours so Tinney could give his girlfriend the present, but news soon got worse.
"The receptionist told us that the bus got stuck in an ice patch and would hopefully be here by six tonight," Brennan said. "I had to be at work in two hours, so Ben agreed to leave the bear with the receptionist and take us home."
Brennan never made it home in time for work, as the two-hour trip back turned into a five-hour trip.
"Getting lost several times didn't help," Pizzoferrato said, "but traffic was also at a crawl getting out of the city."
"My friends were disappointed that Nicole's bus didn't make it in time," Tinney said. "If you overlook that as well as the car accident, the windshield wipers, the turn signal and the directions, you could say that it was a fun trip nonetheless."
Today's youth can learn one thing from Tinney's numerous mistakes. If your girlfriend is more than an hour's drive from you, mail her a present.
