First Down: Drexel Drowns in Own Flooding.
Last week, Myers Hall had a very untimely flooding through its dorm rooms. Clearly, Drexel must realize that the construction of the new dormitories at 33rd and Race streets, and also the demolition plans at the English Learning Center and at 34th and Powelton, are coming just maybe a little too late. It is nice to see that Drexel is planning improvements around the campus to make it less unsightly, but doesn't anyone else shake their head and think, this is just a little too late? Doesn't it seem as though Drexel works at a one or two-year impediment to that of the declining buildings? Hopefully, Drexel will be able to sort out the construction issues that are desired or favored from the construction issues that are necessary to keep a campus running efficiently.
Second Down: Chargers Spoil Good Thing
Imagine being part of one of the most dynamic NFL teams today. Now imagine if you lost both your offensive and defensive coordinators because they departed to become head coaches elsewhere. Then, deciding in the best interest of the football team, to fire your head coach of five years, Marty Schottenheimer. What kind of owner and general manager are you to allow all of your coaching staff leave without any solid replacements? This is definitely one of the last things the Chargers want to deal with this off-season after a disappointing showing against the New England Patriots in the AFC Divisional Playoffs. Let's see if the 2007 Chargers can be anywhere near as prolific on offense and defense with the new coaches they plan on bringing in.
Third Down: Record Setting Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics have been hitting new franchise lows as of lately. Everyone thought their record-setting 14 straight losses was bad enough, but as of last Wednesday, the Celtics had reached a new low of 18 straight losses - even with Paul Pierce back in the lineup! The Celtics are only six games away from the NBA's record 24 straight losses, set by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1983. The Celtics do have a chance to redeem themselves with a patch of sunlight to possibly win in the games following their loss to Minnesota. Now all you 76ers fans can look on the brighter side of not being labeled as the worst team in the NBA.
