Next was an oi band from England, Hardskin, in a rare U.S. appearance. In between their short songs, the band's three members doubled as comedians. It's what's expected from a drunken oi band. They really hit the nail on the head when they made a quip about oi fans needing to shower. I'll just leave it at that.
Finally, Dillinger Four took the stage. The last time I tried to see them, the show sold out a month ahead of time, but now I was up front, ready to rock. Patrick Costello, the band's bassist, standing right in front of me, said he's been having problems with ulcers and has been throwing up all day. Oh great, I thought both seriously and sarcastically, as I knew this would probably prompt him to keep his clothes on, but I didn't want to get any vomit on me. Luckily, he had a trash can so I was safe. They opened with "Mosh for Jesus" and continued with an incredible set list. Sure they didn't play "The Great American Going Out of Business Sale" or "Supermodels Don't Drink Colt 45," but hearing "Doublewhiskeycokenoice" alone was worth the price of admission. Their set ended with "Folk Song"; the 40-minute performance seemed like a mere moment. My mood was ecstatic, because I saw the greatest punk band still touring today.
