Season four left us with Jack "Javier" Bauer walking off into the Mexican sunset to disappear off the face of the earth and help traffic steroids to Ryan Franklin, disguised with aviator glasses. What would CTU Los Angeles do without its beloved and controversial Bauer?

Fortunately for CTU LA, Allstate Insurance and TV viewers across the globe, 24 season five features the return of Jack, who has found a new life and lover in Mexico under some comical alias like Fred Flintstone. FOX's teasers feature Jack in the middle of field with his aviator glasses and a messenger bag receiving a phone call. A couple seconds later he's ripping off those glasses, and we know one thing is certain: Jack is back.

According to the trailers, Jack's been framed for kidnapping and murder on live TV (Marwan style) of a possibly important official at the airport.

Who could the antagonist be for this season? To wit, Jack hasn't spared a single Drazen, and Marwan was sent falling to his demise in a scene about as believable as a CTU perimeter being able to do its job. Of course, this raises the point that everyone thinks Jack is dead, and he isn't, so what if his former foes are also still alive? Think about it, Zombie-Drazen and Marwan face off against un-dead Jack. Unfortunately, this would probably mean Teri would be coming back too, so perhaps this idea isn't worth exploring. So now, all fingers point to China, whose involvement in season four was trivial at best, except to stall for time and set up season five. Jack's involvement with the Chinese is the reason he's in Mexico and had to fake his death in the first place. Jack is wanted for the murder of a high ranking Chinese diplomat, so expect China to find out that Jack is alive and try to use this fact for some sort of political gain. Of course, expect Jack to kill some of those commies.

What else can look forward too? Look for a bigger role from CTU tech geek Chloe. She's seen in the trailers fighting off terrorists with Jack, showing off those assault rifle skills that came in handy during season four. Maybe Behrooz and his shovel will come out of hiding to help Jack put the spades to terror.

And what about those useless, boring love plots the writers always need to throw in? Never fear, expect plenty more with the reunion of Tony and Michelle and now-single Audrey Raines. Look for personality-challenged Chloe to hit the relationship headlines, possibly setting up a dangerous love rectangle between Jack, Chloe, Audrey and Edgar Styles. Look for a big twist at the end when Chloe chooses Edgar over Jack, sending Jack running back to Mexico for the Salzars and their heroin rather then spend the rest of his life with emotional wreck Audrey.
