"Students who are interested in this major need to realize that this is not a typical engineering program," Hanson said. "This major is for students who want to solve real world problems and make a difference daily rather than work with theories and concepts."

For full time students, the program consists of 186 credits that includes 3 cooperative education experiences making it a 5 year program.

Goodwin also offers this program part-time during the evenings, or students can participate in the dual degree program where they work toward their associate degree at Delaware County Community College and the bachelor's degree at Goodwin.

Admission into the program requires an SAT score of 1100 along with a minimum grade point average of 2.5. Accepted students may chose between three concentrations: electrical, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering technology.

Goodwin faculty ensures all students full availability to advisors and faculty since the college is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. As of last September, 16 students started the AET program full time, however with the vast amount of opportunities this major provides, the University expects more students to enter the program in the upcoming years.
