Issue date: 7/22/05 Section: News
The Drexel InterView, as seen on DUTV has given the University a chance to showcase its liberal arts interests, expertise and appeal to the community.

This program began with a vision from Dr. Philip Terranova, Vice President for University Relations. He thought initiating a program such as the Drexel InterView would assist in publicizing the University's Online Journal, Dragonfire. The InterView began airing October 26, 2004 and will be entering its second season this fall. It consists of a series of interviews lasting a half-hour, featuring significant leaders in the liberal arts discipline. Past guests have proven themselves within their careers in the fields of art, literature, film, science, business, medicine, and technology. As conveyed by the InterView's website, this program strives to highlight "artists, celebrities, innovators and public figures who live and work in greater Philadelphia or who are visiting the region."

Guests are chosen in a joint effort between Philip Terranova: Vice President for University Relations, Dr. Mark Greenburg: Dean of the Pennoni Honors College and Publisher of Dragonfire, Lynn Levin: Executive Producer and Adjunct Assistant Professor of English, and Dr. Paula Marantz Cohen: Distinguished Professor of English, culture critic and novelist. In picking guests, Cohen noted they are looking for "people who can show what Drexel is about and how culturally diverse they are in interest, and those who outline the range of [the University's] interests." Once guests are decided, Levin is responsible for completing pre-research on the guest and coordinating dates for which they would be available. When the guests commit Levin continues her research by purchasing hard copies of materials if the guest has published works and prepares questions along with a script for host of the program, Dr. Paula Marantz Cohen. Levin and Cohen both do their part in researching the guests, and come together prior to the interview to combine and review questions.
