In addition to these necessities, some optional amenities that may make the residential life easier include: a microwave, ear plugs, a shower caddy, shower sandals, a bathrobe, storage crates, clothes hangers, plastic bags, sunglasses, social security card, driver's license, watch, camera, sports equipment, extra shoes and sneakers, a marker board or message board, a back-rest pillow, a cellular phone, stamps and stationery, a music or movie collection, a music player, such as an MP3 player or jukebox, television, fan, pictures of family or friends as well as posters or other room decorations.
Each residence hall has something unique to offer students. Calhoun Hall, a curved building, is close to the Buckley athletic complex and its rooms have two different layouts depending if the room is in the inside arc or the outside arc of the building. New Towers Hall is a fifteen story building that houses over 400 residents. Top rooms offer views of the different areas of the city. Myers Hall is home to Drexel University's Learning Communities. These are communities for engineering students, business students, future health professionals, media arts and design students and information science and technology students. Kelly Hall is eleven stories tall and houses Northside Market (formerly Kelly Deli) where meal plan "Flex Dollars" can be used. East Hall is one of the closest residence halls to campus and is reserved for freshmen in the Pennoni Honors College. East Hall also has suite-style living with 4 or 6 residents living together in the same suite. Finally, Van Rensselaer Hall also contains suite-style living. Each room in Van R is slightly different, making for a variety of unique room layouts.
