The 52 collections drew inspiration from Asian, African, Latin, Russian, and Korean cultures and Victorian, Baroque, Organic, and Classic eras. Students were inspired by concepts ranging from cupcakes and bows, to tornadoes, marriage, and downtown Manhattan.
Added show highlights included an illustrious winter white glamour collection. Most notably, it included THE FUR, a full faux-fox casually strewn over the shoulders of a floor-length winter white overcoat, which displayed quintessentially effortless fabulousness. Additionally, a Caribbean-inspired collection exhibited utterly sexy, cutaway swimsuits, and thong bikinis in smoldering colors. The plus-size collections displayed Asian-inspired turquoise and gold pieces and structured fur and leather evening wear. An exciting flamenco collection presented sheer, tiered-skirt dresses in fun, sherbet colors. The "Modern Gangster" collection was truly ahead of its time, and the surface manipulation of the African collection shone the flamboyant side of nature.
The show was an unforgettable experience that proved that Drexel's Fashion Program can and does successfully contend with the most renowned fashion schools in the country. Every collection was incredible. I wish the designers all the very best as they march into the fashion world in all of their splendor. These students are sure to move from the pages of The Triangle to the advertisements of Vogue.
