Those in the news who present either a positive or negative impression of themselves are de facto nominate for being either persona cum grata (person with grace) or persona non grata (person without grace).
- James Mack Jr.
Persona Cum Grata
Police Chief Garrett Chamberlain - The head of law enforcement for Jaffrey, N.H., has charged an illegal Mexican immigrant with trespassing for being on public, not private, property. If we can't nail illegals at the border, this seems to be the next best thing.
Pakistani Military - While their little tiff with India is getting annoying, they have nabbed the Al Queda #3 man, Abu Faraj al-Libbi. Al-Libbi is one of the masterminds of Al Queda's global operations and coordination amongst splinter cells. One down, too many to go.
Persona Non Grata
Jennifer Wilbanks - The Georgia woman who fled her fiancee just days before the wedding turned up safe and sound in New Mexico ... claiming she was kidnapped. It turns out she got cold feet, and the fiancee is taking her back. Not only did she waste hundreds of man-hours for law enforcement, she also scared the hell out of her loved ones. True love.
China - Yeah, this week the whole government of China gets it. They have closed Tienamin Square for fears that protests may occur. Yes. God forbid people rally and proclaim to the government their grievances.
