New provost announced: Stephen Director
Houshmand will continue as Dean of Goodwin College

University President Constantine Papadakis announced Stephen W. Director as the new provost effective July 1. Director is the dean of the college of engineering at the University of Michigan and a professor of electrical and computer engineering since 1986.
According to the press release, Director is the author of over 150 papers and six texts and a fellow of the IEEE and ASEE.
Ali Houshmand, who has served as interim provost since former Provost's Harvill Eaton's resignation in February 2004, will resume his role as dean of the Goodwin College once the change is made.
