GPSA hosting leadership conference
Campus Philly and the Greater Philadelphia Students Association will hold their third annual student conference at the University of Pennsylvania April 1.
The conference is open to all students in the region, but GPSA is interested in bringing together leaders from student government, campus media multicultural associations and campus event planning boards. The conference will include organizing workshops to help students effectively work with college administrators, their local communities and their organization members. Managing Director of the City of Philadelphia Pedro Ramos will be give a keynote speech.
The event is hosted by the University of Pennsylvania Undergraduate Assembly and co-sponsered by the Drexel's Undergraduate Student Government Association and Camden County College's Student Government Association.
Delta Zeta collecting Prom Dresses
Drexel's Delta Zeta sorority, Epsilon Zeta chapter is collecting dresses, specifically formal, cocktail and bridesmaid dresses that can be cleaned, altered and worn by local high school students to their senior proms. Dresses may be "slightly worn but loved."
Dresses and accessories to complement the dresses will be accepted at the sorority's house at 202 North 34th Street from now until April 15.
Donors can also have dresses picked up by contacting the chapter's philanthropy chairman, Morgan Kato, at mak57@drexel.edu.
CAB offering massages during finals
The Campus Activities Board will offer free back massages in the Creese Student Union Complex March 15 and March 17 from noon until 2 p.m.
Spring resource fair at Drexel
Returning students are encouraged to attend the resource fair which will be held in the Great Court of the Main building during the week of March 28.
The event will go from March 28 until April 1, lasting from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., except for April 1 when it will end at 5 p.m.
Representatives from enrollment management, the finical aid office, the student resource center, office of student accounts, university registrar and the health insurance and immunizations office, a division of student life, will be present to answer questions.
CoMAD instructor's work on display
College of Media Arts and Design instructor of visual studies Bruce Pollock will showcase his paintings at two exhibitions.
"A Closer Look" at Arcadia University Art Gallery is already hosting his works and will continue through April 24. Here, Pollock will participate in a discussion with guest curator Claudia Gould March 15.
"Building References" at the Rosenwald-Wolf Gallery at the University of the Arts is also hosting his work through April 3.
BoT member honored by Pa. Bar
Justice Sandra Schultz Newman, Drexel University College of Medicine trustee and graduate of the class of 1959, will receive the Pennsylvania Bar Association's 2005 Anne X. Alpern Award at a ceremony held May 5 in Pittsburgh. The awards is given to a female member of the bar who has had a significant impact in Pennsylvania and demonstrated leadership in a law-related profession.
