Those in the news who present either a positive or negative impression of themselves are de facto nominated for being either persona cum grata (person with grace) or persona non grata (person without grace).
- James Mack Jr.
Persona Cum Grata
The Supreme Court - Finally, a high court that doesn't pass the ball back to the lower courts. Now, we have concrete decisions, even if I don't agree with some of them. Now all we need is a 2nd Amendment case.
Rick Santorum - Even though I don't agree with his religious views on government, I have the utmost respect for his convictions on the dire state of Social Security. It's on it's way down the tubes, and just because the liberals in this country want a safety net, it's dragging everyone else down with them.
Persona Non Grata
Ed Rendell - As Governor of our sovereign Commonwealth, he has taken it upon himself to get federal highway money to pay for SEPTA. Good, now people in California are paying for our buses. Fairness, check.
Big Tobacco - As this Ed-Op editor has learned the hard way, quitting smoking is like trying not to look at a car accident. You just can't help it sometimes. It's my fault for starting, but why did they have to make them so tasty?
