Italian movie and lecture to be held Feb. 16

The Modern Languages Department presents La Voce Della Luna in MacAlister 4016 from 3 - 6 p.m. Feb. 16.

This movie is part of the Italian Film Series. Following the movie a lecture, titled "la Voca Della Po Esra" will be held by Silvia Calorosi. For more information contact Dr. Daniel DePau at dd62@drexel.edu.



Introductory Science Elective "How Things Work"

The College of Arts and Science has made created a new three credit science elective called "How Things Work" (PHYS 480) to be available in the Spring Term.

The course will cover topics such as how microwave ovens, photocopiers and magic tricks work. It also plans to inform the students why the sky is red during sunsets and how to make things levitate. To explain the science behind these everyday experiences the professor plans to use lectures and hands-on demonstrations.

A Personal Response System, also known as "clickers" will be deployed during this course for instant feedback and student polling.

Introduction to Sensor Networks offered in spring

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department will offer a new course, Introduction to Sensor Networks (ECES 490) in Spring 2005.

With hand-on experience, the course is geared to give an introduction to the field of sensor networks. Crossbow Technology, Inc. sensor nodes will be used as well as program applications to create a network to experience different phenomena. Introduction to sensor networks and senor nodes, overview of node architectures, TinyOS programming, wireless networking and application programming over view, and real world application are a few topics to be covered between the lectures and projects. Jaudelic de Oliveria will teach the class. Pre-requisites include ECES 302 and ECE 201.



Workshop to assist in 2005 Business Plan Competition

The LeBow College of Business Laurence A. Baida Center for Entrepreneurship on Technology will hold "Simply Strategy - Marketing, Product and Technology" Feb. 17 from 4-6 p.m. Baida Mentors will assist participants the skills necessary in prepare a business plan. Over $65,000 in cash and in-kind services will be awarded, as well as opportunities to develop winning plans into revenue generating enterprises.
