A car accident involving four vehicles occurred on N. 34th Street during the early hours of Jan. 30.
Public Safety Officer Babb was first to respond to the incident after hearing a loud crash while in the Dispatch Center, as stated in the Public Safety incident report. According to the report, a burgundy car was found with two males, later identified as University students, who were attempting to get out of the car. The driver and passenger were noted as sustaining severe cuts to the nose and eyebrow. Two University nursing students assisted the injured parties.
Public Safety waited on-scene while Officers Stuart and Done of the Philadelphia Police Department and Engine number 44 of the Philadelphia Fire Department had arrived. Medics arrived on the site at 2:44 a.m. and promptly transported both students to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for treatment. At this time, it is undetermined how the accident occurred. The other vehicles that were damaged in the accident included a white Jeep, a white Ford Explorer, and a Pontiac Grand Am. These vehicles sustained heavy damage, but were empty at the time of the accident.
Public Safety Officer Augustine proceeded to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital to gather further information pertaining to the auto accident. At that time, one of the students had been released, while the other was being held for additional treatment.
More information was not able to be obtained, nor was Augustine able to see the student at that time.
Names of the students involved were not released by Public Safety to The Triangle.
