Public Safety Officer Robertson observed two white males and two black males fighting in an area adjacent to Myers Hall, in a Public Safety incident report. According to the report, Robertson shouted to the group, asking, "What's going on over there?"
That was when three to four shots were fired. Afterward, Robertson reported that the two black males ran toward the Community Garden, dubbed the "Rape Garden" by some students and faculty. They continued through the Garden and east on Summer Street. The suspects were wearing dark color hooded sweat shirts.
Robertson went back to check on the victims, but found that they were gone. A shell casing was recovered from the sidewalk near the loading dock of Myers Hall. Philadelphia Police Department Officers Eib and Weiss arrived on the scene and corded off the area with Caution tape.
The victims returned to the area at 12:35 a.m. The two victims, who wish to remain anonymous. reported that one of the suspects attempted to rob them, taking $1.00 from one of them. They were escorted to Southwest Detectives for questioning.
Public Safety Officer Wise heard Robertson's report and turned onto 32nd Street from Market Street when a black Cougar was riding southbound on 32nd Street with its headlights off. Wise reports that the driver was a black male wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt trimmed in gray. Wise followed the vehicle as it turned its lights on and made a right to head westbound on Market Street. The car turned southbound by making a left onto 34th Street, only to turn eastbound onto Chestnut Street. The vehicle then turned into A-Lot when it reached 32nd and Chestnut Streets. The car continued to evade Wise, running several traffic lights in the process. Observation stopped once the vehicle reached 31st and Chestnut streets.
The licence plate number of the vehicle was reported as belonging to an address in Mt. Pleasant, Pa. The owner of the vehicle is unknown.
One of the victims was contacted by The Triangle, but requests for information were not immediately returned. Neither of the victims were injured in the assault and the Philadelphia Police Department continues to investigate the crime.
