Flip-flops, sandals summer attire; winter requires boots

People that know me well would probably say I am easy going. I'm not really loud...I talk a lot, but not to the point of nausea or anything. I could probably stand up for myself a little more, but I choose my battles wisely because there are very few things that truly infuriate me. But there are a couple things.

Let's take, for example, people who do not have proper table manners. That is something that is completely intolerable. We are human beings, not animals; therefore it is not acceptable to eat as such. However, everyday (without fail) I see a person who is unrequitably unfamiliar with any sort of etiquette. Grrrrr....

Manners aside, I present with my truly infuriating piece about fashion.

Yes in the past, I committed many fashion the crimes; I'll be the first to admit it. At one time, I was a fan of big hair and neon-induced clothing. I even wore horrible shoulder pads in my dresses and matching Sam & Libby flats with the big bows on the top. I wore Keds and the scrunched-down wigwam socks with the matching slap bracelet. There have also been trends that I have participated in that were so bad, I have chosen not to share them with general public.

In any event, there is one horribly bad trend (and I pray to God that is all it is) that I will never EVER participate in: wearing flip-flops in the dead of winter.

I have on countless occasions spotted repeat offenders here on Drexel's campus. This reprised need for individuality has gone too far. When did this become cool, to freeze your toes off? This horrific trend is inappropriate and unhealthy. Believe it or not, men are often worse offenders than women. Boys: no girl wants to see your tootsies all red and chapped just because there is a freak "warm" day in winter like New Year's Day was here in Philadelphia. Let me be the first to tell you that most women will not think you are cool for wearing flip-flops and the ever-present turned-up collar to the bar in the winter. This is January. Dress accordingly.

I have a 60 degree and above rule for wearing flip flops. This past week the temperature reached 70, flip flops were worn. If the weather is warm, I would rather wear flip flops and be comfortable then to wear sweaty socks. (Continued…)
