MANNA Weekend

The Metropolitan AIDS Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance, prepares and delivers hot meals and other goodies for home-bound people living with HIV or AIDS. Saturday volunteers can help prepare some nutritious comfort food and also have personal contact with the people who receive MANNA meals by helping with meal delivery.

A car required and a valid driver's license are required for delivery. This project will take place Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. To sign up, contact Maya Burkova at 215-546-5135 or maya_burkova@vanguard.com.

Oxfam Hunger Banquet

For some, a banquet means lots of food, but for many, the only meal served is hunger. Feast or famine - it's the luck of the draw. To participate in this interactive hunger banquet, come out Thursday Nov. 18 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Van Rensselaer Hall Living Room.

Each participant will be classified as either first class, middle class or lower class. They will experience first hand what that particular class lifestyle is like.

Participants will be educated on many hunger and poverty facts that are plaguing the world. In addition, they will be provided opportunities to volunteer to serve these causes.

This event is hosted by Circle K. Participants are not required to R.S.V.P.; only show up on the day of the event. E-mail Sumeet at sgp23@drexel.edu for more information.

Fundraising Opportunity for student groups

Better World Books is an organization that collects unwanted no-value books that students cannot sell back to their bookstores at the end of a semester in order to be able to fund socially responsible literacy initiatives around the world.

They fund two different non-profit organizations, Books for Africa, www.booksforafrica.org, and Room To Read, www.roomtoread.org, by holding book-drives on college campuses in order to be able to collect their unwanted books.

Student groups can take initiative over this book drive on their campus. As an incentive, this is a fundraiser that can be quite lucrative with a little work. Every book collected benefits much less fortunate children in other parts of the world. Contact Natasha Harris at Natasha@betterworldbooks.com for more information.
