The Drexel e-mail system, which went down at 6:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27, is now operational, after partial restoration Aug 29. According to Drexel's network status web site, backup was in progress during the crash and was lost. In addition, all messages received between noon Aug. 24 and midnight Aug. 26 are lost and cannot be recovered. Most other messages should have been delivered by 6 p.m. Aug. 30.
Vice President of the Office of Information Resources Technology Ken Blackney said the mail server was fine, but there was a problem with memory and with recognizing disk drives. IRT engineers have been working on the service problem since the systems went down.
Reports from several students say that the server was not functioning sometime late evening Aug. 26.
DrexelOne continues to remain slow and the vendor is being contacted to help with the problem.
