Why would life have to start with a one-celled organism? Why would it start the same way as it did on Earth? Why not any other way? This would seem crazy, but different atmospheres and surroundings can result in different forms or types of life.
Life can be completely different from what it is here. That form of "life" might not need any oxygen at all. The atmosphere might not have the gases we have; they might have gases that we do not even know about or gases that are pretty fatal for us (our form of life). I do not think we can claim that life begins or starts this way. It can start in a totally different way. Just because we do not know about it or we do not believe in it does not mean that it does not exist.
The purpose of this article is to raise an argument that finding life on Mars or studying these planets might not go anywhere (but we should continue trying). And the hypothesis that the aliens will be more sophisticated than us might not be true. Aliens might as well be stationary rocks. I have just tried to look at the entire situation of searching for other forms of life in the universe from a different angle. What is life? The answer is out there.
