The Drexel women's basketball team split their third weekend in a row by defeating Towson 74-67 Feb. 20 and falling to Hofstra, one of the top teams in the Colonial Athletic Association this season. The Dragons remain in the middle of the pack in the CAA as the regular season winds down.

"We had the game right at our fingertips," women's basketball head coach Denise Dillon said after the game. "We just couldn't find a way to win."

After fighting hard to come back against the Pride Feb. 22, the Dragons ultimately came up short as they lost 61-56. The shooting woes started early for the Dragons in this game as they did not score their first points until seven minutes into the game.

After their horrific 0-for-12 start in this game from the field, the Dragons tried to claw back but could not bring the deficit closer than four points throughout the first half.

"Normally we shoot much better at home than on the road," Dillon said. "We just couldn't find our shot today. We were rebounding and defending great, but we weren't scoring."

A three-point play by Hofstra's Stacyann Claxton, sister of ex-76er guard Craig "Speedy" Claxton, opened up the game to seven points at the end of the half and destroyed the Dragons' momentum. After halftime, the Pride opened up their lead to 12 points but the Dragons never gave up. A solid three-point attack, led by senior Ola Snytsina, brought the Dragons back to within three points with 3:57 left in the game.

Following two free-throws by Hofstra's Amaka Agugua, the Dragons came down and fed the ball to senior Viktoria Hollosy who connected on Dragon three-pointer to pull within two points, 54-52.

"The bench really helped us out in the game," Dillon said. "[Hollosy] really stepped up when she came in. She played really well today."

The Pride held on to win the game following some costly turnovers late in the game by the Dragons. The Dragons shot a total of 31 three-pointers in this game while only shooting 33 shots from inside the arc.
