ESPN The Magazine honors Hynes, Ambler

Senior diver Kate Hynes and junior men's lacrosse player Colin Ambler have been named to "ESPN The Magazine's" Academic All-District at-large teams. Each garnered a first-team selection. According to the College Sports Information Directors of America, all nominees must be a starter or important reserve for their respective teams, while simultaneously maintaining at least a 3.

Could America care any less about lacrosse?

Americans love football - and I'd like to think they are still passionate about baseball, even if it is losing ground as our pastime with each new steroid allegation that dominates every U.S. media outlet known to man. However, with all the hype that comes with March Madness, Wimbledon, the Masters and, dare I mention NASCAR's pinnacle race, the Daytona 500, it seems as though lacrosse has become lost in the fray.

So far, Ibañez proving his worth to Phillies

Who would have thought Phillies fans would be chanting "Rauuuuul" from the stands by the end of April? Obviously, not many people, considering talks that the Phillies overpaid for 36-year-old left fielder Raúl Ibañez upon his signing in December. These naysayers did not consider what a fundamentally-sound player could bring to a winning team in a hitter-friendly ballpark.
