After getting a few prayers answered, the Dragons were hoping to be tied for second place in the CAA by the end of the evening. Instead, they fell just short of pulling off their most impressive win of the season. The men's basketball team (12-9, 8-4 CAA) lost 73-70 in overtime to the Delaware Blue Hens Feb.
The men's basketball team shouldn't be upset for losing to a 10-14 Delaware team that Bruiser Flint called "the most dangerous team in the conference." However, the Dragons should be upset that they once again came up just short in a close game. During Drexel's seven-game winning streak, the team had only one game that was decided by fewer than seven points, a 53-50 win against Georgia State Jan.
Gabriela Marginean scored 21 points and was one of four Dragons to score in double digits as the women's basketball team (13-8, 8-2 CAA) defeated George Mason (2-19, 0-10) 71-52 Feb. 5 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va. Nicole Hester had a season-best 13 points and 10 rebounds for Drexel, which remained in a tie for first place in the conference with James Madison and Virginia Commonwealth.
Gerald Colds's shooting woes came to an end. Drexel's winning streak, however, didn't. Colds came off the bench to score a team-high 14 points and the Dragons won their seventh consecutive game, defeating Towson 60-53 Jan. 31 at the Towson Center in Towson, Md.
