DU rankings split in Princeton Review

Drexel University saw improvement after The Princeton Review gave it a Green Rating of 98 and need for improvement after it was ranked the third Least Beautiful Campus in The Review's Best 368 College guide. Surveys for The Review were distributed by the schools themselves and "Drexel was incredibly helpful in this," according to Rob Franek, author of The Princeton Review.

Drexel to search for permanent provost

Drexel University will be conducting a nationwide search to permanently fill the provost position, with Mark Greenberg, the interim provost, as a possible candidate, according to Brian Rossiter, a University spokesman. Rossiter did not provide details as to when the search would be conducted or the qualifications required for a possible provost candidate, and said the selection committee, which will finalize the provost position, has not yet been formed.

New meal plan offers increased Flex Funds

Starting fall 2008, Drexel University will offer incoming freshmen two options for their meal plan: the standard Gold Meal Plan with unlimited meals at the dining center, and the Blue Meal Plan, which will include 12 meals per week and more dining dollars, according to Drexel Dining's web site.

Robbery spree ends in federal indictment

The man charged with attacking a Drexel University professor has been charged in 17 robberies across Philadelphia and has been indicted on federal weapons possession charges, police said. The man, Michael Gomez, also known as Marvin Sutter, allegedly punched and robbed a Drexel University professor in her Stratton Hall office May 29, according to police.

Power outage hits campus

Several Drexel University buildings were among the 290 PECO customers that lost power shortly after 1 p.m. Aug. 7, according to University and PECO officials. Only three customers remain without power, including Nesbitt Hall and the Daskalakis Athletic Center, officials said the afternoon of Aug.
