Drexel President Constantine Papadakis announced that Mark Greenberg, dean of the Pennoni Honors College, will take on the role of interim provost and senior vice president of Academic Affairs effective July 1. "He [Papadakis] called me in as soon as the provost [Stephen Director] announced his departure," Greenberg said.
Max Brindle, a freshman in the LeBow College of business and a member of Drexel's lacrosse team, died the morning of June 18 after a bicycling accident in his hometown, Wayne, Pa. Brindle, 20, was riding his bicycle when it crashed into the back of a car, according to the Daily News.
Laura Meikle Koch, 28, one of the greatest players in Drexel women's soccer history, died June 13 from lung cancer at Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester. "It was a total shock for this to happen to someone so young," Koch's former soccer coach at Drexel, Ray Goon, wrote in an e-mail.
Drexel University held its 121st commencement in the John A. Daskalakis Athletic Center June 14 in four different ceremonies throughout the day, with a distinct speaker for each graduation session. More than 4,600 students received degrees this year, according to Niki Gianakaris, a University spokeswoman.

Students competed in the fourth annual iSchool Senior Design Challenge June 11 featuring projects that offered solutions to real-world problems or proposed innovative and beneficial services, according to the iSchool web site. The first place award of $2,500 and the Product Presentation award was given to team NTLB, who created a "No Teacher Left Behind" application.
