Whether you knew it or not, you were invited to a party. The Division of Student Life and Administrative Services held a holiday reception in Behrakis Grand Hall on Monday and all students were invited. It was the first event of its kind held by Drexel and it clearly shows an attempt by the administration to be more personable with students.

"Pledge" routine robs it of its significance

If you grew up in America and went to public school, you've said it. It's one of the first things you were taught, probably the first thing you memorized. It was part of your daily morning routine: the Pledge of Allegiance. This American tradition came under fire a few years ago when staunch atheist Michael Newdow brought legal action against the state because he believed the phrase "under God" violated separation of church and state and pushed a religious viewpoint on his elementary-aged daughter.

Chavez's plan for a Venezuelan dictatorship hits roadblock

You could say that Hugo Chavez, Venezuela's President-wannabe-Dictator, has not exactly gotten what he wanted this holiday season. All Hugo wanted was to be given sweeping powers to reform Venezuela with socialism and name himself President-for-life-like the kid next door, Fidel Castro.

Why heart Huckabee?

The presidential candidates for the Republican Party gathered for a debate on Nov. 28. The debate added little to the public's understanding of the issues and the solutions that this country needs. Candidates seemed more concerned with attacking each other than talking about the issues; and even when they did that it was a scramble to see who could be the toughest guy on the stage, not the candidate with the best plan for the country.

Atheism trusts in humanity's potential

All you believers out there humor me for a minute (or more, depending on how fast you read). Use your imagination and run with what I'm saying, I think it's worth the time. The argument between atheists and those who believe in a God, Supreme Being or deity is well known to most of us: followers of religion see atheists as shortsighted, immoral and self-centered.
